New Website Launch

Hello everyone! Welcome to the launch of my new website, along with my very first blog. I will be posting the latest updates on tournaments and fishing trips, along with pictures and educational videos. This space will be used to share knowledge along with industry news. I may slide in a few opinions and some mental health topics. For a long time, I’ve wanted to speak on the psychology of bass fishing, and I have planned a series of YouTube videos with a focus on the psychological side of fishing and competition.

Many of you might know that I am also a clinical psychologist and the owner of a practice in Florida. So, I am well-versed in sports psychology and have applied psychology concepts to bass fishing. I’m excited to share these insights with other fishermen and hope you find them as helpful as they have been for me.

Parker Mott History

A quick background about me: I was born and raised in Florida and have dreamt of becoming a professional bass fisherman since age 10. I have always loved fishing and competition. I remember the first time I saw Bassmasters on TNN, and I felt like I found my outlet for combining the two. From that moment on, like many current professional anglers, I dreamt of holding the trophy at the Bassmasters Classic. I devoted all my time and energy to fishing and began working in a small local tackle store. From there, I was given a chance to guide at the age of 16 and later started my own guide service at the age of 18. I fished many local and state tournaments but never quite reached the level of success I had dreamt of.

Education & History

Continuing my education, I went on to college to study business management. I found it incredibly boring and had no interest in business, although I was taking business classes to impress my sponsors. After several years in a community college, I transferred to the University of Central Florida and changed my major to psychology. Psychology was a field that I had always had a strong interest in, and I could actually see myself working as a career. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I moved to Tampa, where I attended graduate school, and later moved to Clemson, South Carolina, on Lake Hartwell for my pre-doctoral internship. I graduated with my doctorate degree in clinical psychology in 2011 and moved back to Florida, where I have worked in private practice ever since.

Upon starting my own practice, I noticed something was largely missing in my life. It was competitive bass fishing, which I had taken a hiatus years before to complete my education. It was time for me to get back into the sport and revisit the chase of the dream. I began fishing at a high level, ultimately leading me to fish the B.A.S.S. Bassmaster Open Series. It had always been a dream to fish with this organization, and I was finally living my dream.

A Grateful For Bassmaster

One of the most unexpected yet best parts about traveling the country fishing in the Bassmaster series is the number of people and friends I’ve met. People I found shared the same dream but came from different backgrounds and careers. It’s truly been a blessing to be fishing at this level, meeting new friends, and fishing alongside the legends and role models I looked up to as a child.

This website and blog will take you on my journey through the world of professional bass fishing. I’ll share the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for additional content, launch specials, and updates to the block.

I am sincerely grateful for your support,

Parker Mott, Psy.D.
